New Delhi: The Men in Blue gave a rousing send-off to Ashish Nehra in his last international cricket match here on Wednesday. With a thorough team effort, India crushed New Zealand by a massive 53 runs in the first T20 Internationals to take a 1-0 lead in the three-game series.

Nehra, however, finished wicket0less in his final international appearance. He bowled four overs for 29 runs and was unlucky not to finish with a wicket or two as a couple of catches were put down off his bowling.

Chahal and Axar picked up two wickets each as New Zealand, chasing India’s 202 for three wickets finished on 149 for eight. Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma came up with 80-run knocks each. Virat Kohli played a quick-fire cameo to bolster the score.

Dhawan started off his aggressively hitting 10 fours and two sixes, while Rohit cut loose after a steady start as he smashed six fours and four sixes. They decimated the Kiwi bowling by bringing up a record 158-run first wicket stand in just 16 overs. Kohli’s 26 came from 11 balls and was laced with three sixes.
