Former State footballer Murgan dies
Former national football player A Murgan passed away here late Saturday night. He was 58 and is survived by wife and two children.
Hyderabad: Former national football player A Murgan passed away here late Saturday night. He was 58 and is survived by wife and two children. The Secretary of Ranga Reddy District Football Association represented the State in several National championships besides playing for HAL. He was also part of the Telangana Referees Association.
His talent was to the fore in prestigious tournaments like Durand Cup, DCM Cup, Bombay Rovers and IFA. A two-minute silence was observed in his memory prior to Sunday’s Shiv Kumar Lal ‘B’ division match.
P Rajendran, President of RR District Football Association, and members of Shastri Soccer Club, condoled the death and recalled their association with Murgan and how he inspired several budding footballers.
