Hyderabad: Hyderabad-based table tennis player S Fidel R Snehit bagged yet another international medal when Indian team won a bronze in the prestigious Czech Junior & Cadet Open in Hodonin. Meanwhile, the Indian contingent annexed six medals overall.

The Cadet girls took an enviable silver medal while the junior boys and junior girls settled for a bronze each in the team events.Payas Jain picked up two bronze medals in addition to the silver won by Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah in the junior doubles’ event.

Snehit and Jeet Chandra missed out on a podium finish when they lost in the quarterfinals. Diya Chitale was the one of the star performers for the 14-member contingent, guiding the Cadet Girls’ team to the final with three victories against Serbia. She won both her singles matches and the doubles in the company of Munmun Kundu.

India, however, lost 0-3 to China in the final India, represented by Manav Thakkar, Manush Shah, Jeet Chandra and Snehit lost 1-3 to Japan in the semifinals of the junior boys’ team competition.
