Telangana man is India’s new kabaddi coach
For one who is little known outside of the Kabaddi fraternity, 40-year-old Sangareddy’s Uttarpally village native, L Srinivas Reddy, has notched up a rare distinction. Sooner than later, his name will take the spotlight as the country gears up for a fresh season of the rugged sport.

Srinivas Reddy, who is revered in Australia and Korea, whose national teams he coached, has scripted an Indian conquest having been elevated as the coach of the national squad. It is but natural that all Indian players coming under wings, particularly those bearing youthful exuberance, will stand to benefit immensely because he has seen the inside out of overseas teams from close quarters.
His maiden assignment in the new role will be the ensuing Master’s Cup, which is slated to be held in Dubai from June 22 to 30. India will have to reckon with contenders like Pakistan, South Korea, Iran, Kenya and Argentina. It is a different matter altogether that India will be the pre-tournament favourites.
Srinivas, who earlier honed the skills of Telugu Titans and Haryana Steelers as their assistant coach, will shape up the players from Jaipur Pink Panthers in the coming season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).
