Warm lemon water is known to kick start the metabolism for the day, and help control weight. The antibacterial and immunity boosting properties of lemons are undeniably helpful to aid the body with required Vitamin C, bioflavonoids and calcium.

Lemon further has anti-aging properties and also alkalises the blood (eliminates disease from the body as disease cannot survive in an alkaline body).

How to prepare:

Why lemon water every morning?

1.Hydration: Our bodies are generally in a mild state of dehydration after a full night’s sleep. Lemon water can help to re-hydrate the body (the same principle we use when we drink lime juice in the hottest of summers). Lemon water can help replace fluids that are lost, and make you feel refreshed.

2.Clears skin: Lemon water helps in flushing of toxins and hydrating the body, both of which result in helping the skin to repair itself, thus giving a vibrant glow on the face.

3.Immunity builder: One of the cheapest and most effective ways to build immunity from the body and fight the cold and flu is to drink lemon tea regularly. Lemons are also said to be high in potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function and control blood pressure.

4.Weight loss: Since lemons keep the blood alkaline in nature, people with healthy alkaline levels in the body tend to lose weight much more easily than those who have acidic bodies. Those who have higher levels of acidic pH in them tend to feel more sluggish and find it difficult to lose weight – and lemon tea/water helps with just that!

Pep up your lemon water with ginger and honey – For one cup of warm water (not hot), squeeze the juice of half a lemon or lime. To make a Ginger Punch, use a thumbnail size of ginger, half a lemon, and a good tablespoon of honey; mix in warm water.

Add sprigs of fresh mint leaves. Let it seep for a few minutes before consuming. Adjust according to taste preferences. In addition to lemon water, exercise and diet maintenance is required.
