Coconut Water: Coconut water is undoubtedly counted as a wonder food. It contains natural electrolytes. It is therefore no wonder that it is called the ‘fluid of life’. Coconut water is an oral rehydration medium; it’s the next best thing to water. In addition, it keeps the body cool.

Buttermilk: Whip up some Yoghurt with mint, coriander, ginger, jeera and rock salt mixed with chilled water is the best desi way to cool yourself this season.

Jaljeera: This chatpata drink replenishes your body with salt and micronutrients which are lost due to the sweating in the summer. The jeera in this nice tangy drink provides the drinker with potassium which is depleted in the summer due to sweating. This works well on the side of a meal, as a replacement for the deceptive colas.

Lemonade: Lemon is the first food that comes to your mind when talking about vitamin C. A chilled glass of salty lemon water can definitely help anyone wishing to cool themselves down. The salt added to it will help replenish lost minerals in the sun. The vitamin C will benefit the hair skin and eyes which take a beating in the summer too.

Fruit Smoothies: There is a variety of fruits which can be had in the summer in order to improve your health. Sometimes it gets boring to sit and munch on them. There’s a simple solution to this. Blend together two of your favourite fruits – or even more than two to a blender with some ice. Mix them together to a nice smooth, runny paste and drink up! This way, you’ll get the nutrients of the fruits along with the fun of having a fruit juice and the benefits of the fibre as well which are drained out in fruit juices.
