Having spent months planning every single minor detail of your big day to look picture perfect, you surely don’t want to look tired in your honeymoon photos, videos nor do you want your skin to suffer more after wearing excess makeup during wedding functions.
Packing for a honeymoon to a far-off glamorous beach resort or popular hill destination sounds fantastic but how do you plan to maintain your beautiful bridal blush in bright lights of the city to the sun, sand and the surf. No matter where you’re headed, here are some tips to pack the bare minimum makeup products to look your best on such an unforgettable milestone in your life!
During your journey, your beauty needs should be within easy reach, so that you can refresh your makeup and alight from your journey, looking attractive and confident. Travelling light is an advantage, so you need items that are compact and portable. Get yourself a spacious shoulder bag and two small, plastic lined cases, for your toilet and makeup. Remember to take a scarf along to protect your hair from over-exposure to the sun, as well as from wind and dust. You will need it if you are out motoring, boating or even walking by the seaside or hills.
Before setting out on your journey, take care of a few grooming needs. Have your manicure, pedicure and hairstyling done, so that all you need is “touching up” while you are away! A short hairdo that you can just brush and arrange is best, while for long hair, take along a headband and hair clips, to keep your hair tidy. Remember to take a scarf along to protect your hair from over-exposure to the sun, as well as from wind and dust. You will need it if you are out motoring, boating or even walking by the seaside or hills.
Whether it is a beach destination or mountains, you need to carry hair cream or lotion containing sunscreen, as the effects of sun exposure are much more near reflective surfaces like water and snow. A hair dryer would be useful in both destinations. For the beach, a swimming cap would help to protect the hair from the sun and salt.
Leave on hair conditioner, or hair cream with sunscreen would provide protection. Take conditioner or hair serum for use after shampoo. A hair rinse would help to wash out the salt and restore the normal balance. A mild herbal shampoo is a must. For tropical destinations, carry a ready-to-use scrub. Hot and humid conditions call for deep pore cleansing, especially for oily skins, in order to keep the pores free of clogged oil and dirt.
After washing or cleansing the skin, a scrub may be applied and rubbed gently on the skin, using a circular motion. A good skin toner is a must, for all skin types, to cleanse and refresh the skin. A rose-based skin tonic is ideal. After cleansing, wipe the skin with it, using cotton wool. You can even keep the skin tonic in the refrigerator. This way, it is chilled and ready for use. This is especially refreshing in a warm tropical climate.
Avoid using heavy moisturisers. A sunscreen lotion may be quite adequate. In the tropics, the effects of the sun increase. Try to avoid sun exposure as much as possible, especially from noon till about 3 pm. The skin should be protected from the effects of sun exposure and the daily care routine should also be adjusted to deal with these effects. Carry wet tissues to cleanse, wipe and refresh the skin.
For your makeup, carry an eye-pencil, kaajal stick and lipsticks that are suitable for both night and day wear. Perhaps, a lip gloss will do. You will also need pressed powder (compact) and powder blush-on. If you have oily skin, or the weather is hot and humid, pre-moistened tissues are what you need. Carry them in your handbag when you go out, to clean and refresh your skin. Apart from these, take a deodorant and talcum powder.
