Following the recent paedophilia ring scandal, YouTube has announced a number of changes to its platform to make it safe for children and curb the menace of inappropriate comments and timestamps by malicious users.

In its blog, YouTube listed some of the steps it is taking to improve child safety. One of the biggest measures is disabling comments on videos featuring minors.

YouTube has disabled comments from tens of millions of videos that could be subject to predatory behaviour and it is planning to broaden this action to identify and suspend comments on similar at-risk videos vulnerable to abuse.

The content creators will now be required to actively moderate comments on such videos. YouTube will work with the creators directly to catch volatile comments.

In addition to this, YouTube is also introducing a comments classifier. The classifier has been designed to help identify and remove 2X more predatory comments.

Lastly, YouTube will also take action against creators publishing content that endangers minors or encourages harmful challenges targeting any audience.
