\"In 2002, when laptop entered the dressing room, we thought what is it doing here. However, we engaged into what could be achieved with its help. Our team meetings became more precise due to technology,\" Sachin, 43, said after inaugurating an online retail initiative launched by a Dubai- based Indian-owned healthcare firm Aster Pharmacy.

Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar today said he backs the use of technology even though he was the first batsman to be given out by the third umpire after TV replays.

"When it comes to technology, I am always on for it even though I was the first to be given out via technology in South Africa in 1992," Sachin said.

"In 2002, when laptop entered the dressing room, we thought what is it doing here. However, we engaged into what could be achieved with its help. Our team meetings became more precise due to technology," Sachin, 43, said after inaugurating an online retail initiative launched by a Dubai- based Indian-owned healthcare firm Aster Pharmacy.

"Now you can see the areas where the batsman scores in the first few overs and then later in the innings. It is getting more and more precise. Technology always helps. It has also changed spectator experience," he said.

As the brand ambassador of Aster Pharmacy, Sachin made an appearance for the launch which is described as the first of its kind retail initiative in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The occasion also marked the opening of Aster's 200th clinic in the region.

"Online pharmacy is happening for the first time in the GCC and I congratulate the Aster team for this accomplishment," Sachin said.

"Digitalisation of healthcare sector is the need of the hour. Online pharmacy in developing countries is still a work in progress. We want to organise interest and make medical products available at the doorsteps," Dr Azad Moopen, Founder, Chairman and MD of Aster DM Healthcare said.

"It has not been properly utilised but things are moving in that direction. We want to place ourselves at the forefront of that delivery," Moopen said, adding that healthcare delivery is changing in the digital era.

Asteronline also delivers wellness and lifestyle products available online. FMCG and optical products are also there.
