Samsung launches 'Made in India' Galaxy Tab with biometric technology.
The South Korean tech giant claims the Galaxy Tab Iris offers cashless and paperless services in different applications dealing with banking, eGovernance services and more. The tablet is also said to help India spread its Digital India vision, says the firm. It is expected to support government benefit programs along with banks and financial institutions.
Samsung, as we reported earlier, launched a new tablet device in the Indian market called the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris at Rs 13,499. The device is company's first tablet in India that features iris-recognition technology "that is ready for Aadhaar authentication through an integrated and highly secure biometric device."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris is Aadhaar-compliant and STQC-certified as well. This means that it can be used to enrol children where the biometrics information of the parent is required to authenticate the Aadhaar enrolment.
As for the specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris features a 7-inch WSVGA (1024x600 pixels) resolution display. It packs a Quad-core 1.2GHz processor, clubbed with 1.5GB RAM. The device houses a 5MP autofocus rear camera.
Supporting 14 local languages, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris also comes with 3G, Bluetooth v4.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Micro USB with OTG connectivity options. It houses 8GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded via a micro SD card up to 200GB. Weighing 327 grams, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Iris is slim at 9.7mm. It is also backed by a 3600mAh battery.
