As we mentioned before , Lenovo will be launching its Vibe K5 smartphone in India this month. The company has started sending out media invitations for the event, scheduled to take place on June 13.
Lenovo introduced its Vibe K5 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 at a price of $129. It was unveiled along with the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, which was launched in India in March at Rs 8,499 . Based on the price of the Vibe K5 Plus, we expect the Vibe K5 to cost lower.
On the specifications front, the Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Lenovo Vibe K5 features a 5-inch HD display with 720x1280 pixel resolution. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and offers dual-sim functionality.
The handset is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. In-built storage of the smartphone is 16GB, with the ability to use microSD cards up to 32GB in size.
The device sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera for selfies. On the connectivity front, the Vibe K5 offers 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. There's also a 2,750mAh battery. The only difference between the Lenovo Vibe K5 and the Vibe K5 Plus is that the latter sports a Full HD resolution display and slightly better Qualcomm processor. The Vibe K5 will be available in Gold, Silver, and Grey.
Moto Z and Moto Z Force with Moto Mods launched
Lenovo not only launched the world’s first Google Tango-based handsets, Phab 2 Pro but also the flagship Moto Z and the Moto Z Force at the Tech World Show. As expected, the Moto Z Force is more powerful out of the two as it has more battery capacity and features the company’s Shatter Shield display, which was first seen with Moto X Force. Although the company did not reveal the pricing of the metal-clad devices, it said they will be hitting the shelves by September this year along with the Moto Mods.
In a recent report by research agency Gartner, Lenovo was pushed out of the top five smartphone vendors' ranking as well as the top ten mobile phone vendors in the market listing, in the first quarter of 2016.
Lenovo is also struggling to bring synergies with the Motorola device business it acquired, managing lower costs and overheads of the two brands. Hopefully, the Chinese tech giant will likely be able to recover its costs later this year when the two handsets, Moto Z and the Moto Z Force hit the shelves in September.
