New York [USA]: In yet another move to outdo its competitors, particularly Instagram, image and video sharing platform, Snapchat, revealed that users can now tag their friends on the stories they post.

In its latest update, the company said users can tag their friends in a Story, creating a swipe up "more" option that shows the tagged person's name, handle, Bitmoji, and an Add button to follow them too, thus making it engagement easier, along with improved promotion of influencers.

However, the feature is not being rolled out to all users, and is currently in the pilot phase, the company said to TechCrunch.

After a user clicks an image or films something, the option to add text appears on the screen. Once this flashes, the user may tag someone using the "@" symbol and writing out a username to mention them.

When someone views this Snap, an option to avail more details will appear as a swipe up. This window will then flash details of the tagged user's profile information and an Add button for new contacts.

The company also confirmed that a person who is tagged will receive a notification of the same, provided he/she is in the beta test of this feature as well.

Once rolled out, the feature could not only improve Snap streaks, but also help in greater conversation and user engagement.

Tagging could also assist Snapchat in improving the intertwining of Stories and messaging, which now appear on the same tap post the app's revamp.
