Hyderabad: Bold Decisions Mark K Chandrasekhar Rao’s 30 Days in OfficeHyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who took oath on June 2, would be completing one month in office on Wednesday as the first Chief Minister of Telangana State.

In the last 30 days, KCR took some bold decisions like cracking a whip on encroachments and unauthorised constructions in the State capital, revamping of policing in Hyderabad and Cyberabad limits on a par with international standards, fee reimbursement to students whose families settled in Telangana prior to 1956 and others.
However, KCR continues to grapple with the bifurcation blues like shortage of power, sharing of water between Andhra and Telangana, lack of staff, issues pertaining to division of employees and now the indirect elections to local bodies, etc. KCR has been spending most of his time in the Secretariat attending to the issues that need his immediate intervention such as preparation of the budget and a wish list that needs to be presented to the Centre, so that the State could get liberal assistance from it.
In his first review meeting, after assuming office, with GHMC officials, he directed civic officials to undertake development activities keeping in mind the requirements for the next 30 years. He directed them to solve drainage and traffic issues in Hyderabad by 2015.

In his first and only press meet after assuming office, KCR put an end to all confusion regarding loan waiver scheme by saying that his government would not go back on its poll promise. He said the TRS government would waive off all crop and gold loans taken by farmers which would put a burden of Rs 19,000 crore on the State exchequer.

One of the major issues he had to confront soon after coming to power was the Beas river tragedy in Himachal Pradesh, where 24 engineering students from Hyderabad met with watery grave. The State government in a quick move announced ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of the deceased.

The other decision that grabbed news headlines was cracking a whip on encroachments and illegal constructions in Hyderabad. Upon his directions, GHMC razed a few buildings in the controversial Gurukul Trust lands in Hitec city.

In another significant decision, his government declared Bonalu and Bathukamma as state festivals and announced that the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao would be officially celebrated by the government every year on a large scale.
