Ex-beedi worker is Warangal ZP chairperson!

Warangal: The newly elected chairperson of Warangal Zilla Parishad, Gaddala Padma of TRS, is on cloud nine cherishing her life’s meteoric rise.

The 38-year-old is a graduate. Before taking up the avocation of Anganwadi teacher some time back, she used to work as a beedi worker at home. Her husband, G Narsinga Rao is a senior TRS leader at Narmetta.

Now sitting on the ZP chairperson seat, reserved for SC (Woman) comes a fantasy she is living out. More over it is the first instance in Warangal ZP history that the seat is reserved to SCs. It might be noted that party candidate Madasi Shylaja, ZPTC member from Parwathagiri, was also aspiring for the chairperson post. But the party high command favoured Padma and the local leaders proposed her name.

After emerging as the winner, the emotion-ridden Padma could not hold back her tears of joy. “I very happy to be elected for this post and I thank the TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao, deputy chief minister Dr. T Rajaiah, MPs and MLAs for supporting me” she said. “I will ensure all-round development of the district, with focus on women issues,” she said.
