Row over new revenue division, Demand for creating Husnabad as separate revenue division began in 1977. However, the successive governments in united Andhra Prades did not show much interest to declare Husnabad as new revenue division.
Karimnagar: Non-declaration of Husnabad as revenue division by the State government has kicked up a row.
Recently, all party leaders met Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and brought to his notice about the High Court’s verdict in favour of announcing Husnabad as new revenue division.
Demand for creating Husnabad as separate revenue division began in 1977. However, the successive governments in united Andhra Prades did not show much interest to declare Husnabad as new revenue division.
In February 2014, the then Congress government had issued a GO to create Husnabad as revenue division. It became reality as the Husnabad MLA Praveen was close to the then Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
As per the GO, the Congress government gave a month’s time to raise objections over declaring Husnabad as new revenue division. However, the GO remained on paper as Kiran Kumar Reddy tendered his resignation protesting against bifurcation of the State issue. Prior to the formation of Telangana state, Etela Rajender as MLA was making efforts to get revenue division status for Huzurabad. He even promised to form Huzurabad as separate revenue division in his election campaign.
Etela Rajender as Finance Minister influenced the TRS government and was able to scrap the GO issued by the Congress government.
On August 11, 2014, the TRS government had issued a GO No 18 declaring Huzurabad as revenue division. Revenue divisional office was set up with an in-charge revenue divisional officer within two days after the issue of GO.
From then on, all party leaders of the Husnabad began protesting against the GO and warned of intensifying protests if the Husnabad was not made as revenue division. They filed a petition in the High Court against the TRS government. The High Court gave verdict in favour of creating Husnabad as revenue division. It is learnt that Rajender seemed to have been determined not to lose revenue division status to Huzurabad. Meanwhile, all party delegation under the leadership of Husnabad MLA Satish met Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister assured them that he would take a right decision at an appropriate time.
Rajender said that he was not against making Husnabad as revenue division. But, he stated that Huzurabad is eligible for revenue division. He is worried of facing Assembly constituency people’s ire if he goes back on election promise by respecting the High Court’s verdict. Now, it all depends on the state government’s response for resolving the issue.
