The ministry of defence (MoD) is likely to conduct elections for eight civilian wards in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) in January, 2015. The tenure of the civilian body came to an end in May, 2013. According to SCB sources, the MoD sent an official communication to this effect to the SCB chief executive officer on Sunday evening.

HYDERABAD: The ministry of defence (MoD) is likely to conduct elections for eight civilian wards in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) in January, 2015. The tenure of the civilian body came to an end in May, 2013. According to SCB sources, the MoD sent an official communication to this effect to the SCB chief executive officer on Sunday evening.

When contacted, Malkajgiri Lok Sabha MPCh Malla Reddy said Union defence minister Arun Jaitley himself revealed the date of elections at a programme in Delhi on Sunday. "The Union defence minister told me elections will be conducted on January 11 in SCB along with 62 Cantonments in the country," he added.

The SCB authorities have completed reservation process of the eight civilian wards in October 2013 in view of elections. According to the officials, wards I, II, V and VI have been reserved for general, while III, IV and VII reserved for women. Ward VIII has been reserved for SCs.
