KTR said that not just on IT, the government has also focused on the electronic and hardware manufacturing sectors.

The government was encouraging the investors to invest in mobile, LED, chips and solar panels manufacturing units. “I am travelling to Taiwan, Hong Kong to attract the investors. Electronic manufacturing units will generate a lot of employment opportunities for the semi-skilled people.”

The minister who launched the T-Hub website said that it would help people to imbibe entrepreneurship skills. The government in the near future wants to have an outpost of T-Hub in the Silicon Valley, USA, the Minister added. He expressed displeasure over the government departments functioning. “In terms of IT, even now what one department does the other departments do not know. We are planning to bridge the gap between the departments pertaining to IT.”

Rao informed that government was planning to give broadband connection to all households in the State. “In the water grid project, almost one lakh kilometers pipeline is being laid. If fiber optics lines are laid parallel to it, it will create history for providing broadband facilities to all the houses.

And also we want to have at least one digital literate in every household. We are planning to take digital literacy programme from the primary school level in September.” The minister said in the wake of large number of people using smart phones, it was time to move towards mobile governance.

“While country’s population is about 120 crore, 98 crore people have mobile phones. Of the total mobile phone users, 40 crore people use smart phones. While keeping e-governance intact, we should move towards mobile governance. Mobile governance will cut down the interfaces.”
