Hyderabad: The two kilometer long Hussain Sagar bund was agog with artistes and people, who thronged the dais on the State formation day celebrations to mark the conclusion ,here on Sunday. A scintillating laser show and illumination of the Sagar stretch, Lumbini Park, NTR Marg, Necklace Raod were seen bedecked with breathtaking lighting for the last six days.

Elaborate arrangements were made for the event which was attended by Governor ESL Narasimhan and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. One of the main highlights of the colourful programme was the laser show depicting the vast culture of Telangana and a distinct blend of unity in diversity even as cultural troops reached the place.

Fireworks and 3D illuminations, enthralled people who had come from all the ten districts. The colourful presentations also included march past of policemen, thousands of artistes and people representing all ten districts of Telangana.

The GHMC women workers shaked a leg to balladeer Gaddar’s chartbuster Podustunna Poddu Meeda. Adding to enthusiasm of State formation day, some college girls were found themselves in sheer delight and could not abstain from shouting “Jai Telangana” slogans. “Indeed we are enjoying this occasion and undoubtedly Hyderabad is a great city,” they said.

While the environs witnessed the echo of Andesri’s noted “Jaya Jaya He Telangana” song. In a similar way, some women and girls were seen carrying Bonalu, Bathukammas and Sanskrithika Sarathi led a few teams, portraying a variety of art forms, reached the Tank Bund.

Audience, who gathered in large numbers were enthralled as the artistes gave their best shot. A variety of rallies from adjoining thoroughfares joined the event adding colour to it. The brand ambassador of Telangana Sania Mirza was also present on the occasion and interacted with the Chief Minister and the Governor.

A huge rally led by Ministers T Harish Rao, Naini Nasrsimha Reddy, Md Mahmood Ali, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, P Mahender Reddy, T Padma Rao was taken out from People’s Plaza during the evening. The Chief Minister and Governor reached the grand platform which highlighted the Kakatiya Toranam. Along with policemen on bikes, on mounted horses and brass band, hundreds of artistes marched on the Tank Bund.

After Governor and Chief Minister launched the function, people witnessed ‘electronic kites flying’ over their heads and presentation of lazer shows emanating from near the Buddha statue and boats floating in the Hussain Sagar. Later, public enjoyed the colourful fireworks on the historic lake encircled in glowing LED lights on Necklace road and Tank bund.

The GHMC which made 1 lakh laddus for the grand ceremony distributed it amongst the public. The excited Chief Minister distributed the laddus to the Governor and Ministers on the stage. The Telangana brand ambassador Sania Mirza was offered laddu by KCR. Throughout the celebrations, the Government’s Swacch Hyderabad campaign was highlighted with the huge replicas of brooms and GHMC cut-outs.
