Hyderabad: TRS appears to be in a great hurry to decimate the opposition parties and is making all out efforts to weaken the support base of senior Congress leaders, including the TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy.

According to sources, KCR has entrusted the responsibility to win over some of the close aides of the TPCC president to Ministers G Jagadish Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao. The Ministers are expected to focus their attention on Huzurnagar, Kodad and constituencies represented by Reddy and his wife Padmavathi respectively.

TPCC chief’s close aide and DCMS (District Cooperative Marketing Societies) Chairman J Venkateswarlu switched loyalties to TRS in the presence of the Chief Minister on Saturday along with Nalgonda Congress MP G Sukhender Reddy’s brother G Jitender Reddy on Saturday.

Another important leader in the constituency, DCCB (District Central Cooperative Bank) Chairman Muttavarapu Pandu Ranga Rao, who got the post after joining the Congress from TDP before the general election, decided to quit Congress. Rao is the close associate of the state R and B Minister.

Sources said Rao would join the TRS in the presence of KCR, who will be visiting the Nalgonda to lay foundation stone for Yadadri thermal power plan at a public meeting on Monday. Sources said the Farmer Market Committee Chairmen of Kodad and Huzurnagar and the Municipal Chairpersons of the two major towns were also contacted by the ruling party leaders.

Talks are under way with many Congress senior leaders of these two constituencies. Mass exodus of the Congress leaders, particularly elected local body members into TRS, seems to be imminent ahead of the biennial election to Local Area Constituencies (LAC) for Telangana Legislative Council, sources say.
