With hand-to-hand combat, urban anti-militant operations and weapon training, periodic training is made compulsory; the programme has begun to tackle terror attacks. An assessment of the police forces in the districts revealed the poor performance of the cops in combat skills particularly after the Nalgonda gun battle between cops and terror suspects.


Each district SP has formed a special inspection team that will carry out periodic checks on weapons used by the police officials. Also, in each district Quick Reaction Teams have been formed at major towns while the district police have ensured that ammunition and enough bullet-proof vests are present at every police station.


A senior official from Nalgonda district police informed that the cops in districts are ready with the high-tech interceptor vehicles at vulnerable points to respond to any major alert immediately. A training schedule for head constables and constables - Self-Loading Rifle while 9mm pistol training for SIs and senior officials has been organized, said a senior official from state police headquarters who informed that physical exercise and yoga classes have been included in the training.
