The Telangana government is convinced that the Centre will not invoke Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act due to the repercussion of the cash for vote scam. TRS deputy floor leader B. Vinod Kumar stated that the TRS has complete faith that Centre won’t invoke the rule in a corruption case.

The progress in the case has been briefed to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan by Telangana ACB director general A.K. Khan along with Hyderabad police commissioner Mahender Reddy. However, these meetings led to the speculation that AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu along with Union minister and two TD MPs were to be served notices by the ACB.

On one side where AP Ministers want the implementation of Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, the other side – Telangana government rejected the rule invoke stating that the Centre would not provide liberty to anyone to indulge in corruption.

Citing peace in Hyderabad, Mr Vinod Kumar said that the TRS government took up the Section 8 issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union home minister Rajnath Singh and other central ministers; there’s no reason for Centre to fulfill the demands of AP govt to invoke the rule.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh when questioned on the cash for vote scam on Tuesday said that the Union home secretary who is assigned with implementing the AP Reorganisation Act, including Section 8 will look into all aspects of the case. TD sources however state that Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister Rajnath Singh had asked Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to implement Section 8 after a representation was submitted to them by Chandrababu.
