With T News and Sakshi TV channel being served defamation notices by the AP Police for airing the audiotape of AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s alleged conversation with MLA Elvis Stephenson. While T News has association with Telangana CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao operating out of Telangana Bhavan, Sakshi TV is owned by YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

T News has been asked an explanation in three days over the defamatory content, warned the AP Police. However, with the TRS and journalists’ unions calling the notice an attack on the freedom of press while protesting against the AP Police in front of the AP DGP’s office in Hyderabad on Saturday, the journalists were taken into preventive custody by the Hyderabad police.

T News CEO Narayan Reddy stated that without verifying the authenticity of the footage, the police had no right to issue notices while the Telangana Union of Working Journalists stated that it was disrespectful and undemocratic approach from the AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
