Deputy Chief Minister Mahamood Ali reportedly said that they had postponed the Iftar party at Nizam College to July 12. It may be noted here that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao announced Rs 26 crore for conducting the Ramzan festival across the State.

He also announced Rs 1,000 salary to each Imams and Mouzars of about 5,000 mosques in the State and also offered to distribute free clothes worth Rs 500 each to 1.95 lakh poor Muslims on the occasion. Meanwhile, the police have decided to make elaborate arrangements to make Iftar party being hosted by the State government in the city on July 12 a big success.

The police conducted a review meeting at Haj House at Nampally on Sunday on the security arrangements for the programme to be conducted in 100 mosques on July 12. Muslim religious heads, Imams and representatives of mosques attended the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, ACB Director General A K Khan urged the section concerned to make the programme a big success. Stating that there was a chance that women too might attend the Iftar parties on July 12, Khan suggested to the police personnel to see that there should not be any stampede during the distribution of saris to women.

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said both Cyberabad and Hyderabad police wings would work in tandem on that day and asked the mosque committees to extend cooperation in this regard.
