Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday inaugurated the bus body building unit of Deccan Auto Ltd at Kondakanchi in Jinnaram village of Medak district, and said that the state was firmly on the path of industrialisation and several investors were evincing interest in setting up industries in the state.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday inaugurated the bus body building unit of Deccan Auto Ltd at Kondakanchi in Jinnaram village of Medak district, and said that the state was firmly on the path of industrialisation and several investors were evincing interest in setting up industries in the state.


Rao appreciated the promoters of Deccan Auto Limited for launching a big project in Medak district, which would provide direct and indirect employment to nearly 5,000 people. He also assured all prospective industrialists that his government would ensure 100 per cent power supply and permission to set up their units would be accorded within 11 days of sending applications to the government.

The manufacturing facility of Deccan Auto will serve both domestic and export markets in Asia and Africa where the group has a major presence in the cement and steel industry, said MSRV Prasad, chairman of the company. Deccan Auto has a technical tie-up with Zhongtong Bus Holding Company of China, a government-held company, which exports to over 30 countries worldwide, said VA Norhi, managing director of Deccan Auto.


The plant has a capacity to manufacture 3000 units per annum. The group has invested more than Rs 250 crore in the bus manufacturing facility. The Chief Minister also unveiled Corona Sky Pack City Bus and toured in it for a short distance. He also unveiled Deccan 18.7 luxury coach and handed over keys sombolically to Ravi Acharya of Goa Kadaba Transport, Rohit Parigi of Amritsar Transport Corporation and Suraub of Chandigarh Transport Corporation who have placed an order for 17, 160 and 90 buses respectively.


Prasad who is an NRI said since they are NRIs living abroad experience comfortable bus journey. And we thought why we can’t provide similar buses to Indian customers. That is how we got into this manufacturing facility. We have considerable amount of stake in Corona.


We have firm orders to manufacture 25 vestibule buses of 18 m length from Pune Municipality. Corona has an impressive order book of more than 300 buses and would be targeting to add another 1000 buses order this year, he said Further he added that Deccan Auto has already supplied 300 busses and they clocked 1.6 million kilometers already, he said.
