The Hyderabad police on Saturday night rescued 88 people that included 75 minors from Bihar who were brought to the city to work as bonded labour. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested the suspected people involved in the incident.

Member of the State Child Rights Commission, Achyuta Rao said that it was a big breakthrough as not only were children rescued in the operation but also the people who are a part of the mafia network of trafficking had been arrested. He added that a large number of children who are giving in to the bonded labour are from backward districts of Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh that is leading them to form a part of organized begging networks.

The entire group was split into three and travelled from different districts to Patna. Later, travelled to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and caught the Janmabhoomi Express bringing them to Hyderabad. Every youngster claimed to have been travelling alone, but with no contact address on them, it was clear that they had been trained to answer.

The 88 people taken off the train were shifted to Gopalpuram police station and were questioned. The minors are expected to be shifted to government-run rescue home for boys soon.
