Chief Minister instructs Energy Department to erect 400 kv electric lines to connect Palmur scheme

Hyderabad: Telangana State Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday instructed the State Energy Department to formulate an action plan for the supply of power to all irrigation and lift projects which were under construction on Godavari and Krishna rivers.


The Chief Minister held a review meeting on power supply position during the ongoing monsoon season, free power supply to farming sector in Kharif season. He also reviewed the progress in the power projects taken up recently by the government in the State with the officials here at the Secretariat.


He asked the officials to erect 400 kv electric lines connecting Palamuru lift irrigation and Srisailam hydel power station and construct new substation at Dindi or Maheswaram for the supply power to the lift irrigation project. KCR enquired about the plan to establish new lines at Jaipur or Bhupalpally for the supply of power to the proposed lift project at Medigadda on Godavari river.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare a plan for supply of power to every project before the completion of the irrigation project works. The officials informed KCR that arrangements were made for the supply of required power to domestic, industrial and commercial sectors. The Department estimated that the power demand would increase to 6,000 mw in the wake of continued dry spell in the State.
