World tribal day today

Warangal: Proving that the State-run institutions are not anymore pedestrian in emulating the corporate institutions, the students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions (TSWREI) Society are knocking the doors of success not alone in academics but also in other fields.

To note here, the Society is behind the success story of two teenagers Malavath Purna of Nizamabad and S Anand Kumar of Khammam, who climbed the Mount Everest, the Earth’s highest mountain. With Sunday being the World Tribal Day, The Hans India recounts the effort of the Society in enlightening and bringing up the indigenous people.

The Society is registering success after success ever since RS Praveen Kumar, an IPS officer who chose to become the Secretary of the Society by choice, has been at the helm of affairs. The unusual surge of applications seeking admissions this year indicates the rising popularity of the schools under the ambit of the Society. It may be noted here that the Society had received over 83,000 applications against last year’s 54,000.

The demand for seeking admission into Intermediate has also doubled as the Society had received 8,000-odd applications surpassing the last year numbers that included students from undivided AP. Unlike corporate institutions, the TSWREIS has proved that patronage not lies in marketing but in success.

It may be noted here that 11 of the 48 students from TSWR (IIT LTCD) in Hyderabad of the TSWREIS, who appeared for the JEE (Advanced), got top ranks this year. Besides this, three students brought laurels to the Society by showing meritorious performance in the national-level Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

Speaking to The Hans India, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential College of Excellence (TTWRCE) in Warangal principal D Sadanandam dwelt at length about the ‘E+ Club’, an initiative introduced to improve the communication skills of the students, focus on Intermediate Public Examination (IPE) on every Saturday and JEE/EAMCET on every Sunday. Recently, the Society added non-vegetarian food in the menu of the hostels, he said.

“Most importantly, the administration will also keep track of academic progress of the students even after they move out of the college completing Inter in our college. As majority parents of the students are illiterate, the staff guides them in preparing and appearing for the entrance exams like EAMCET, JEE, and also helps in getting admissions into degree courses,” the principal said.

TSWREIS Secretary RS Praveen Kumar said, “We are just nurturing the innate talent that the students have, besides providing a dais to exhibit their skills. The success belongs to all the staff associated with the Society.” Ramulu Naik, a native of Lingapur under Dandepally mandal in Adilabad district, told this newspaper that the Warangal institution is like a Godsend for their family.

“My daughter, an alumnus of this college, is pursuing B. Tech in a reputed college. My son worked hard and got admission into the same college this year,” pointing out his faith in the quality of teaching in the institution. Vankudothu Ashwini, Inter MPC final year student of Vankudothu Tanda in Warangal district and Rathod Sopan, BiPC final year student of Narayankhed in Medak district, said they feel at home in the college as the staff takes care of them in every aspect, besides creating inquisitiveness about their career.

Principal O Bhaskar Reddy of the School of Excellence in Khammam told this newspaper that the TSWREIS is always ready to lend support be it in improving infrastructural facilities or initiating enlightening programmes such as ‘Summer Samurai’, a summer camp to impart and hone the life skills of the students. M Ramana of Achampet in Mahabubnagar district, father of Dhanunjay, who got through JEE (Advanced) and awaiting seat allotment, said that without the staff’s individual focus, this could not have been a reality.
