G Kishan ReddyNizamabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday demanded that the State government declare drought-prone areas in various Telangana districts where farmers lost their crops. In order to take stock of the situations in rural Telangana, BJP State president G Kishan Reddy visited drought-affected areas of Nizamabad district.

He visited Mentrajpally village of Ditchpally mandal and reviewed soya and paddy cultivation there, along with local BJP leaders. Kishan Reddy interacted with farmers to know their problems. Farmers of Mentrajpally said they had lost the crops and the capital due to the drought situation in the district and requested Kishan Reddy to support them to survive from drought.

After seeing the crops, Kishan Reddy demanded that the State government immediately declare these villages as drought-affected to support the farmers. He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao neglected the farmers who lost their crops due to drought and urged the State government to support farmers in the State.

Kishan Reddy also demanded that the State government take a legitimate decision on Pranahita-Chevella Project land acquisition issue. He requested the government to compensate the farmers who gave up their lands for the project. BJP district president Ganga Reddy and Kisan Morcha leaders were also present.
