Hyderabad: About 60 acres of Madhapur Durgam Cheruvu lake land, which could be worth about Rs 15,000 crore has been illegally occupied by the encroachers, said Legislative Estimate Committee after inspecting the site on Tuesday.

The Estimate Committee members incuding MLAs K Prabhakar Reddy, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Vemula Veeresham, Anjaiah, MLC Prabhakar Rao, HMDA Commissioner Shalini Mishra and GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar have inspected the Durgam Cheruvu lake and detected unauthorised constructions which came up in buffer zone.


Solipeta Ram Linga Reddy, Chairman of Estimate Committee has directed the GHMC, HMDA, Irrigation department and other related officials to furnish the details of all unauthorised constructions. Linga Reddy also informed that the Rangdham Cheruvu lake in Kukatpally would be developed into a mini tank bund with an estimated cost of Rs. 2 crore by GHMC.
