Colleges directed to set up CCTV cameras
In order to curb the ragging menace, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) directed all the colleges to install CCTV cameras at vital points in the college premises. In a circular issued by the university, it asked all the colleges to step up anti-ragging mechanism with adequate publicity through various mediums such as anti-ragging committee and anti-ragging squad.

Hyderabad: In order to curb the ragging menace, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad (JNTU-H) directed all the colleges to install CCTV cameras at vital points in the college premises. In a circular issued by the university, it asked all the colleges to step up anti-ragging mechanism with adequate publicity through various mediums such as anti-ragging committee and anti-ragging squad.
The university directed the college managements to have regular surprise inspections in the college canteens, hostels, recreation rooms, toilets and bus stands. The students and parent/ guardian community should be made aware of the anti-ragging helpline, anti-ragging website and anti-ragging monitoring agency, the circular said.
The varsity made it clear that colleges should compulsorily take online undertaking from each student and parent every academic year. Students in distress owing to ragging related incidents can access the national anti-ragging helpline 1800-180-1522 (24*7 toll-free).
