Like AP, TS to seek special package
With the Andhra Pradesh government making efforts to seek a special package and reiterate its demand for special status, the Telangana government is planning to seek a similar package of Rs 1.5 lakh crore from the Centre.Talking exclusively to The Hans India on Thursday, Minister for Finance Eatala Rajender said the Telangana government would study the proposals which AP government is going to submit to the Centre and would seek similar package.

Eatala Rajender says TS to study AP proposals before making its own
Hyderabad: With the Andhra Pradesh government making efforts to seek a special package and reiterate its demand for special status, the Telangana government is planning to seek a similar package of Rs 1.5 lakh crore from the Centre.Talking exclusively to The Hans India on Thursday, Minister for Finance Eatala Rajender said the Telangana government would study the proposals which AP government is going to submit to the Centre and would seek similar package.
Referring to a report published in The Hans India on the efforts of Andhra Pradesh to get huge financial assistance from the Centre, Rajender said that there was nothing wrong in it. However, the Centre should also take note of the needs of Telangana. “The NDA government is aware how this region was exploited during the rule of several governments in the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh.
Hence it should be compensated accordingly,” said Eatala. The Centre, which had announced a massive package to Bihar on the grounds that it was a backward state, should consider the problems of Telangana and need to rebuild the new state. Hence, the Centre should extend all benefits as per the AP State Re-organisation Act.
The Centre should treat both Telugu-speaking states equally states, he added. The minister said the state government would work out a detailed proposal after consulting the Chief Minister and financial experts and would then send the proposal to the Centre.
