Hyderabad: The Union government has given its nod to the proposed Telangana State health implementation programme with an outlay of Rs 1,105 crore for the year 2015-16. The proposal has been approved under National Health Mission.

According to the Mission Director Jyothi Buddha Prakash, the current outlay is Rs 313 crore more than the allocation made during last financial year. Six key components have been proposed under the scheme consisting of Maternal and Child Health (MCH), Immunisation, Disease Control, Mission Flexipool, Infrastructure and Maintenance and the like.

Under Mission Flexipool Rs 431 crore has been allocated for implementing Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram(RBSK), funding to the health sub- centres, village health and sanitation, hospital development society, free diagnostic services and drugs.

The RBSK is meant to identify thirty birth defects in children at three levels, comprising community- facility and school levels. Similarly, to provide incentives to the prospective mothers under Janani Suraksha Yojana, Rs 278 crore had been earmarked for Maternal and Child Health (MCH) component of the scheme, he said.

The programme also includes to further strengthen the existing immunisation programme and to provide seven vaccines to prevent diseases. To control communicable diseases like malaria, dengue, swine flu and the like, and non communicable ones like diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular, would be implemented with an outlay of Rs 76 crore, Prakash said.

Also, Rs 169 crore has been approved under the scheme to set up Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) in Telangana. Of the proposed UPHCs, 96 new UPHCs have been planned in Greater Hyderabad with an estimated cost of Rs 45 crore. Besides, all the municipal corporations and municipalities would also have UHPCs, he said.

Construction of PHCs and MCHCs were given Rs 107 crore, which includes providing ultra sound scanners to 14 area hospital. The mission director told The Hans India that the National Tobacco Control Programme would also be rolled out in Warangal, Adilabad, Khammam, Karimnagar, Mahabubnagar and Medak districts in the State.
