Hyderabad: The plan of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to construct five foot over bridges (FoBs) on busy stretches hit a road block. The civic body officials has cited the alignment issues relating to the recently launched Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) as the main reason for the delay.

According to the GHMC officials, the recently proposed SRDP to build skyways and multi-grade separators are obstructing with the FoBs at various important places in the city. The concerned authorities related to FoBs have decided not to commence the project, until they receive clarity from the municipal corporation, the GHMC official said.

For example, the multi-level flyover at the KBR park junction and surrounding roads would interrupt the FOB construction near L V Prasad Eye Institute, he added. This was one of the major concern for the companies to participate even in the bidding process, the official said.

Meanwhile, the civic body has planned to build five FoBs at L.V. Prasad Eye Institute near KBR Park, Filmnagar, and Malaysian Township in Kukatpally, Necklace Road, Masab Tank and two in Gachibowli-Madhapur with an estimated cost of Rs 4.45 crore.
