WARANGAL LS BYELECTION

Hyderabad: Ballad singer Gaddar has neither agreed nor rejected the plea by Left parties to contest from Warangal Lok Sabha constituency as their common candidate. The Left parties on Tuesday failed to persuade Gaddar to contest from Warangal Lok Sabha constituency as a common candidate.

Leaders of all the 10 Left parties, led by Telangana CPI and CPI (M) State secretaries Chada Venkat Reddy and Tammineni Veerabadram, met Gaddar at his Lothukunta residence and tried to pesuade Gaddar to take a plunge into the fray and contest from the Warangal Lok Sabha seat.

They nearly spent about one-and-half hour with Gaddar and explained to him as to why he would be the best choice. But Gaddar neither accepted nor rejected the proposal. He said "I will think over the proposal. If people of Telangana State want, I may consider it. But right now, I have been fighting the politics with my songs and will continue to do that.

I will act according to public will and wish,” he told them. However, Venkat Reddy said that they believed that Gaddar would certainly consider their proposal. He said Gaddar would soon take a final decision. The Left leaders felt that given the background and popularity of Gaddar and the key role he had played in the separate Telangana movement, Gaddar would give a tough fight to the ruling TRS party.
