Luxury flight with 16-member team takes off at Rajiv airport

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday left for China on a 10-day visit to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF) meet slated for September 9. KCR aims to attract investment of Rs 50,000 crore to the newly created state.

Leading a 16-member delegation, the Chief Minister left in a chartered flight from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here. Apart from attending the WEF, he is expected to meet top industrialists in China.

The Chief Minister-led delegation, according to official information, would stay in Dalian till September 10. The team would visit Shanghai (September 10 and 11), Beijing (September 11 to 13), Shenzhen (September 13 and 14) and Hong Kong (September 14 and 15).

The delegation includes Industry Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, Energy Minister Jagdish Reddy, Assembly Speaker Madhusudhana Chary, Council Chairman Swamy Goud, Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao, legislators K Eshwar and G Balaraju, state's representative in Delhi S Venugopala Chary, Chief Minister's political secretary S Subhash Reddy and senior officials.

The government has hired the 50-seater Bombardier CRJ-100 aircraft for Rs 2 crore. The executive jet is known for luxury interiors with an entertainment centre, LCD screens and customised seats.

In the inaugural session to be held on September 9, KCR would be meeting of 'new champions' to be held at Dalian from September 9-11. He will address the meeting on "emerging markets at crossroads".

Growth opportunities in emerging markets, hurdles and shortcomings in policy decisions will be deliberated during the session. KCR is scheduled to visit Industrial hubs in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzen among others.

He will be briefing Chinese Industrialists about uniqueness of state’s new industrial policy and investment opportunities. Later, KCR will go to Chengdu to see Dongfang Electric Corporation unit.

It may be recalled that Dongfang delegation met him earlier in Hyderabad and expressed their interest to set up a power plant in Telangana. On September 15, KCR will meet industrialists at Renaissance Hotel and in the evening he will visit Sky-100 Observation Deck and Big Buddha in the city.

Indian Consulate-General will be hosting lunch for the visiting Chief Minister on September 16 after which he will head back to Hyderabad. This is KCR's second foreign visit after becoming the Chief Minister. His first visit was to Singapore and Malaysia exactly one year ago.
