Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) is all set to begin trial run of the Godavari Phase-1 project by September end. Speaking to mediapersons here, Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said some minor issues with the defence and railway authorities was the main reason for the delay.

The Minister further added that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was in constant touch with both the defence and railway authorities and matter would be sorted out once he returns from China tour. When asked about Krishna Phase-3 project works, Talasani said that apart from 900-metre pipeline work at Prashasan Nagar the remaining works had been completed.

The delay was due to a court case filed by activists and other senior citizens, he informed. After completion, this project would benefit about 20 lakh residents, he added.

Talasani said a coordination committee comprising the HMWS&SB, electricity board, GHMC and other department officials would be formed soon to ensure best service to the denizens. The government has already announced to construct two additional reservoirs at Keshavpuram and Malkapur to create adequate infrastructure for storing additional supply of water in the future.

He also said Osmansagar and Himayatsagar will be linked to Palamuru Irrigation project to save them from the dead storage level.
