Khammam: Congress party MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar demanded the State government to stop the construction of the road dividers that were being constructed unscientifically in the city and remove those that were already constructed in similar manner as they were posing a severe threat to the pedestrians and also creating problems for vehicular movements.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, the local MLA said that the traffic police officials had put up barricades for the construction of dividers here at the Church Compound on Tuesday overruling the objections raised by the local people.

On receiving complaints from the local people, MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar visited the Church Compound area and extended his support to the local businessmen who were opposing the construction of dividers.

He questioned the traffic police officials as to why the dividers were being constructed when they were posing problems to the people and asked them to stop the construction works immediately and remove the barricades. Later, Ajay Kumar met the District Superintendent of Police Shanawaz Qasim at his camp office here and explained to him about the problems that would crop up if the dividers were constructed unscientifically.

He told the SP that the problem was so severe to the aged as they were finding it difficult to cover long distances by walk and to those who were poor were not in a position to hire autos because they have no money. He also said that it was his responsibility to solve the problems of the local people as he was elected by them.

He requested the SP to examine and provide necessary arrangements for turning of vehicles at LIC Office, Nizampet Masjid, Mayuri Centre, and Reliance Mart and at the Bus Stand.Responding to the request made by MLA Ajay Kumar, the DSP called the Divisional

Superintendent of Police Dakshina Murthy, Town Circle Inspectors of Police Ramana Murthy, Rehaman, Anjali and Nagesh Reddy to his office directed them to take necessary steps to prevent disturbances to the general public during the construction of the dividers.
