SHE TEAM @ BVRITH. BVRIT HYDERABAD College of Engineering for Women had the visit of Hyderabad SHE TEAM in which Police officers.

BVRIT HYDERABAD College of Engineering for Women had the visit of Hyderabad SHE TEAM in which Police officers, Women students and faculty participated. The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ms. Snehitha spoke about the importance of SHE team which works exclusively for the safety and security of women. It has around 60 teams all over the city with ten committed police men in each team.

She explained the functioning of SHE teams at various hotspots located all over the city. These teams keep an eye on the various issues faced by women in public places. These teams are technically equipped to help in issues related to women. SHE team takes care of any kind of offence against women such as eve teasing, abusing, misbehaving, ragging, etc. These kinds of issues towards women are handled by the SHE teams with complete witness recorded at the place. Ms. Snehitha also spoke about Crime Against Women Cell (CAWC) where all the offenders would be given counselling at every weekend by the professional psychologists. She mentioned the statistics regarding to the age group of the offenders caught by the SHE teams which was quite shocking to the audience.


She informed that around 500 eve teasers were caught till now by the team. She advised the students to be fearless and to be bold enough to bring forward any issue related to women. She also stressed on various laws implemented by the government for the protection of women keeping the identity confidential. She informed students about “Women’s Help Desk” at every police station which is exclusively for the complaints. She also mentioned that alertness and awareness is most important for any woman at any point of time. The WhatsApp number of the SHE team is shared to the students and they are encouraged to send a message with proper proof whenever there is a need of help. She promised the students that the next action will be taken by the police. She finally concluded with the main motive of SHE team which is “Your safety is our concern.”

The session was very informative to all the students and faculty. There was an immense response to the questions posed by the police officers by the students. Principal of the college, Dr.K.V.N.Sunita presented a memento to the Chief Guest, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Ms. Snehitha. Sub Inspectors of Police and the in-charges of the SHE teams, Mr. Veera Brahmam, Mr. Shekar and Mr. Syed Ali attended event.
