Producing the surrendered Maoist leader before media here, Karimnagar Superintendent of Police D Joel Davis said the surrendered Maoist Katrevula Lingaiah alias Mallesh, a native of Rapelli Kota of Mahadevpur mandal, joined with the naxalites in the 2011 and worked at different levels. He worked in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh state.

He was involved in as many as 15 offences which include murder of two police constables in Chattisgarh. He was also involved in the brutal murder of three villagers suspecting them to be informers in Duddeda and Annaram villages in Telangana region. According to police, the 24-year-old outlaw was also involved in cases of extortion and arson in the region.

Mallesh, who joined the Maoist group in 2010 was elevated to the post of Deputy Commander in 2014 but he decided to surrender due to ill health and internal bickering in the extremist party, the SP said.
