Revealing the Telangana’s excise policy for the next two years, the GO stated that the number of retail liquor outlets will not be increased in the state.

The GO allows 2,206 liquor outlets in the state but considering the hike in licence fee, the wine dealers did not come up with new outlets and the new policy will be implemented for two years starting this October.

Based on the population, the fixed licence fee will be collected by the government. The hike in license fee was opposed by the Telangana State Wine Dealers Association who claimed that there is not much scope to get applicants for the 2,000-odd outlets. The Beverages Corporation/Agency outlets, as per the latest policy will be established in places where shops were un-disposed.
