Hyderabad: Nalgonda MLA Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday announced financial assistance of Rs 50,000 each to the kin of some of the deceased farmers in all the districts of the Telangana State on behalf of Komatireddy Prateek Reddy Foundation.
It may be mentioned here that on May 7 this year Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, MLC, Deputy leader in Telangana Council, had initiated the process of financial assistance by paying Rs 1 lakh to Bhukya Chandu in Khammam district.
Komatireddy Prateek Foundation has been providing financial assistance to the poor and needy in medical and also extending ambulance facility on the Nalgonda-Narketpally-Hyderabad road where fatal road accidents occur frequently. The foundation was also providing financial assistance to the poor and needy in education field, especially MBBS and other professional courses.
Addressing the media on Monday, Venkat Reddy and Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy appealed to the employees of the government, private and IT sector, who came from agriculture families, to donate one-day salary to either Chief Minister Relief Fund or in any other form.
Ponguleti also demanded the State government to bring a new agriculture policy to rescue the farming community which is badly hit by debts. Ponguleti demanded both the Central and State governments to rescue the drought affected farmers immediately.
Stating that the previous Congress-led UPA regime had provided Rs 72,000 crore as debt relief to the farmers in the country, Ponguleti demanded that the NDA government also offer similar package for debt relief to the farmers in the Telangana State. The need of the hour is giving moral support and confidence to the farmers, irrespective of political affiliations.
