Hyderabad: Are Telangana State employees a bit unhappy with TRS government? Are they under the impression that their issues are not being given much attention?

The immediate response is a big “yes.” Telangana employees associations are very peeved with recent move of Special Advisor D Srinivas taking over the responsibility of looking after all issues relating to employees, including staff allocation, between Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh states. Previously they used to bring any related issue to the notice of Chief Minister Chandrashekar Rao.

Now they are forced to approach D Srinivas first to resolve their matters. The Telangana employees feel that Srinivas is new to the job and does not have an in-depth knowledge of contentious issues plaguing staff division as well as functioning of Kamalanathan panel. It will take time for him to get a feel of things, understand and empathise with their concerns.

This is a crucial juncture with deadline for staff division nearing its end but several issues still needs to be sorted out, said a key employee leader. It would have been better had Chief Minister directly monitored things at least until staff division. There are various issues like creation of supernumerary posts, relocation of AP staff, who are working in Telangana in violation of 610 GO, etc., among others that needs to be addressed.

According to Telangana employee unions, these contentious matters will be resolved only if both Chief Ministers sit together and arrive at a decision. Further, they reasoned that Telangana Chief Minister was fully aware of all issues and injustice meted out to them because of his close association with employee unions during statehood movement, especially in the last five years before formation of Telangana in 2014.

Such is the bonding that KCR recognised almost all employee leaders who played key role in Telangana movement by their names. “We do not have such a kind of rapport with Special Advisor, they rued. According to government sources, Srinivas was assigned the job of dealing with all inter-state issues and hence he shifted his attention towards employees’ affairs now that Telangana State and AP were at loggerheads on the subject.

However, Telangana State employees contended that they were not very clear about job profile of D Srinivas. They are not sure how he would use his office to resolve matters. Will he try to reach out to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister to solve contentious issues is also not clear, employees point out.
