Cotton purchase centre at Madnoor soon. The JC on Friday held a review meeting on cotton purchase with the agriculture, revenue and marketing officials from cotton sowing mandal and discussed on providing support price to the cotton farmers.

Nizamabad: Joint Collector A Ravinder Reddy said that the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) would be launching Cotton purchasing centre at Madnoor market yard to facilitate the cotton farmers of Madnoor, Bichkunda, Jukkal, Pitlam and Gandhari mandals.

The JC on Friday held a review meeting on cotton purchase with the agriculture, revenue and marketing officials from cotton sowing mandal and discussed on providing support price to the cotton farmers.

On the occasion, he announced the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of cotton and said that the CCI would be launching its purchase centre from October 10 at Madnoor market yard, purchase common variety cotton at 3,800 rupees per quintal and long verity cotton at 4,100 rupees per quintal.

The Joint Collector said the cotton farmers were losing because of middlemen. This year, the mediators would not be allowed in the Madnoor market yard and Identity Cards would be issued to the cotton farmers. The agriculture and revenue officials will identify the cotton farmers up to September 24 and issue the ID cards from September 25 to 31.

The State government was starting the CCI purchase centre to provide MSP to the farmers and pay amount to them through online by State Bank of Hyderabad. If any mediator would deceive the cotton farmers, the government would take severe action on them, the JC warned.
