Hyderabad: Minister for Industries, Handlooms and Textiles Jupally Krishna Rao, on Friday distributed cheques to the farmers affected by Palamuru – Rangareddy lift irrigation project at Narlapur, and Yelluru villages under Kollapur constituency.

The project was been taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 35,250 crore to irrigate about 10 lakh acres in Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts, besides providing water for drinking and industries in and around Hyderabad.

A reservoir to be constructed at Narlapur is estimated to be submerged 2,600 acres. The farmers have so far given consent for surrendering land of 1,626 acres. The Minister handed over the cheques worth Rs. 49,50,000 to three farmers.

He expressed happiness over the pace of work on the project. Under the leadership of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao the state would be turned into “Bangaru Telangana,” he said.
