Hyderabad: The MLAs who defected to TRS from Congress, TDP and YSRCP who have come to be known as “Bangaru Telangana (BT) batch” in political circles are sitting in “no man’s land” in the State Assembly.

All the MLAs, who had defected to TRS after the Assembly elections, asked the Speaker to allot seats in the treasury benches but the Speaker turned down their request saying that rules do not permit since the issue of their defection and demand for disqualification by their parent party were still pending a decision with him.

He told them to sit in the seats that were originally allotted to them.According to Assembly records, Teegala Krishna Reddy (Maheshwaram), CH Dharma Reddy (Parakala), M Kishan Reddy (Ibrahimpatnam) and M Krishna Rao from Kukatpally have been allotted seats in third and fourth rows in the house meant for the opposition TDP.

Four other Congress and two YSR Congress members were allotted seats in the fourth and last row on the left side of the Speaker’s Chair. But majority of them refused to occupy these seats and instead sat in the last row which is vacant.

Following bifurcation of the state, Telangana Assembly now has only 119 members as against 294 in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. Hence some seats are now lying vacant.

Another TDP member Talsani Srinivas Yadav being a member of the council of ministers occupies the seat in front row. Those who wanted that their seats be changed told The Hans India that they were facing humiliation from their colleagues in the parent party.

A Congress MLA, who does not wish to be named, said he was sitting in treasury benches since he joined the TRS. No objections were made by either ruling party or the opposition so far.
