Venkataswamy’s statue to come up on Tank Bund
The Telangana government has decided to install a statue of former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader G Venkataswamy.
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to install a statue of former Union Minister and Senior Congress leader G Venkataswamy.
The statue of the Congress leader, who died in Hyderabad on December 22, 2014, will come up in Sagar Park on Tank Bund.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) department issued a GO to this effect on Wednesday.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) was directed to take steps to install the statue in conformity with Supreme Court directions on activities around Hussainsagar.
Meanwhile, Telangana protagonists have faulted the government for failing to keep its promise to do similar honours for the late Prof. Jayashanker.
It is unfortunate that the ruling party forget the huge contribution made by Telangana ideologue in realisation of the separate state, they rued.
