Prof KodandaramHyderabad: The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC), which was shelterless for the last six months, would be moving into a private location in Nampally on Saturday. The new office is on the second floor of the 21st Century Complex right opposite to the Board of Intermediate (BIE) building.

  • TJAC leaders sore over the government indifference to their pleas for allotment of land or premises
  • TJAC became ‘untouchable’ after bifurcation, rues a leader

The muhurat is set at 8.30 am on Saturday. TJAC chairman Prof Kodandaram and steering committee members including G Rajender Reddy, Pittala Ravinder, K Raghu among others would be present. It may be mentioned here that JAC office was in Quarter no. 222 in the New MLA Quarters until the formation of Telangana State.

However, after bifurcation, that particular block went to Andhra Pradesh following which respective Assembly Secretariat sent communication to JAC to vacate the premises. Notices were sent on three occasions. In the meantime, the top brass of TJAC approached Telangana State government hoping that it would come to their rescue.

A key JAC leader stated that they even put up a request to Quarters Committee chairman S Ramalinga Reddy in this connection. However, no decision was taken much to the dismay of JAC. The sources pointed out that strained relations between TJAC and TRS were a strong factor in the government not considering the request.

It is well known that the relations between JAC and TRS were badly hit in the run up to the 2014 general elections since the pink party strongly believed that JAC supported Congress indirectly. It is learnt that few legislators who have good relations with JAC leaders came forward to give their official quarters but they backed off after knowing about government’s stand.

Former Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy tried in vain to vacate us from legislators quarters during agitation period but Telangana legislators impressed upon the then Speaker not to bow down to government pressure. TJAC sources were visibly peeved about the indifference shown towards them.

Many acres of lands were being given to different organisations on a platter but it was very strange that government ignored TJAC plea. It is unfortunate that JAC became untouchable after formation of Telangana State for which it fought relentlessly, a steering committee member lamented.
