Addressing a programme at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Jayanthi celebrations organised at the state party office here,Venkaiah Naidu accused the Congress of shedding “crocodile tears” over the plight of the farmers, though it had acquired huge tracts of land and robbed poor farmers of their livelihood during their 10- year rule.

He further stated that the Congress had acquired 80,000 acres of farmers’ land in Haryana and 5.70 lakh acres in the united Andhra Pradesh in the name of Special Economic Zones without the consent of the farmers. The Congress party, he said, after having committed atrocities for 10 years, they (the Congress) were shamelessly holding Kisan rallies now.

Venkaiah Naidu said the people knew that the BJP’s ideology can only provide security for them. The party was on a winning streak in seven state Assembly elections in a row and Municipal elections in Assam, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Bangalore.

Inspired by Deendayalji’s philosophy, the Modi government believed in uplift of poorest of the poor, he said. But communal, caste and corrupt forces were trying to come together to defame the BJP government through disinformation campaign, he felt.

He called upon the party workers to spread the message of goodwill and popularise the Central government schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, Suraksha Bhima Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojana, minimum pension scheme, Atal Pension Yojana and Mudra Bank Yojana.

Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya, Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy, MLAs Laxman, N V S S Prabhakar and Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, MLC Ramachandar Rao, Indrasen Reddy, Baddam Balreddy and former DGP Dinesh Reddy were present.
