Karimnagar: Majority of the speakers participated in the workshop on “National New Education Policy-2015” emphasised the need for introduction of Common School System in the country.

The present education system was widening the gap between the rich and poor students, they opined.

Teachers, representatives of both private and government educational institutions and teacher unions leaders participated in the workshop held at a private hotel here on Sunday, under the aegis of the local MP Boinipalli Vinod Kumar.

They lauded the Union government’s decision to get feedback from the grass route levels on new education policy.Referring the Kotari Commission’s recommendations,

the speakers wanted the government to bring uniformity in the education and introduce Common School System. There was highest dropout rate among the poor students and they were unable to attend school regularly due to financial problems.

Participants also emphasised the need for an education system that should inculcate moral values and ethics among the students.Stating that the present generation lacks values, they wanted the Union

government to frame values and ethics based education curriculum. Moral values should be taught right from KG to University level, they observed.

Speaking on the occasion, MP B Vinod Kumar asked the State government to introduce Choice-Based Credit System in all universities of the State. Students of the country were facing troubles when they go foreign countries for higher education.

To overcome the problem, Universities Grants Commission had issued direction to all university to introduce CBCS. Only Delhi University had introduced the CBCS but there was resistance from students and teachers.
