Nizamabad: Police arrested about 150 Left party activists at various police station limits of Nizamabad district and imposed detention on them to thwart the Chalo Assembly programme.

CPI (M) District general secretary Dandi Venkat, CPI (ML) New Democracy State Secretary V Prabhakar, CITU District Secretary Ramesh Babu, AIDWA leader Sabbani Latha and many others were taken into preventive custody.

Nizamabad police on Tuesday night arrested many Left leaders in view of Chalo Assembly call given by left parties. On Tuesday evening, Nizamabad Two-town police arrested CPI (ML) New Democracy State leader V Prabhakar on the orders of Nizamabad DSP Anand Kumar. He was sent to Two-Town police station.

Three-Town police arrested CPI (M) District General Secretary Dandi Venkat and his wife, AIDWA leader Sabbani Latha, CITU District General Secretary Ramesh Babu and five others.

In various police station limits, CPI (M) division committee leaders Gangadhar Appa, Bodhan, Venkatesh (Armoor), Chandra Shekhar (Kamareddy) and Narsimhulu (Bhiknoor) were arrested.

The police also arrested the New Democracy leader Devaram (Armoor) and Bhoomaiah (Kamareddy). Other than these leaders, about 135 Left parties’ leaders were arrested under various police station limits.

New Democracy leader V Prabhakar on Wednesday demanded that the TRS government immediately release the arrested Left party activists and stop the encounters in Telangana State.
